College Library Reserves Collection
The College Library Reserves Collection contains books, course readers, and media items including VHS videos and DVDs assigned by instructors as required or supplementary resources for their courses.
Print & Multimedia Reserves
The Reserves Collection is conveniently located in the first floor center area, just across from the entrance to the library. Collection is accessible all hours the library is open.
To view a list of titles on reserve for a course, select the Course Reserve tab in MadCat and search by instructor, department, or course or any combination of these. Materials on reserve can be checked out for the loan period selected by the course instructor. The Reserve area of the library has video and DVD stations for viewing reserves items that cannot leave the library.
Electronic Reserves
The Electronic Reserves Collection (E-Reserves) provides access to scanned syllabi, chapters of books, articles, exams, and lecture notes. Registered students and course instructors can view E-Reserves for Timetable courses via MyUW.

Online Reserves Request Form
College Library will place books, readers, and media items in a special course reserves collection. Items in this collection have restricted circulation periods and are intended to be available for students as an alternative to purchasing materials for a course.
If you provide us your list of course materials using the online form, we can arrange to borrow or purchase most titles.
College Library accepts reserve requests at any time and processes them in the order received. Processing delays may be expected at the beginning of the semester. Please request reserve materials as early as possible before they will be needed by the class.
Course Packets & Personal Copies
You may provide us with copies of course packets which we will bind and add to our physical collection. Course packets available for purchase at any local copy center cannot be scanned for electronic reserves. Although every effort is made to provide security for all materials, the library cannot be responsible for the theft or mutilation of your personal copies.
You may also provide us with personal copies of items you're willing to circulate to students. Personal copies will be marked with College Library collection labels and, although every effort is made to provide security for all materials, the library cannot be responsible for the theft or mutilation of your personal copies.
To have course packets or personal copies added to the Reserve Collection, drop them off or send them to the Reserves Acquisitions Office, 1191A College Library with this cover sheet.
Place Course Materials Online
Instructors may choose to use one of the course management programs to make readings available to students, use the library electronic reserves service, or some combination of these. For more information about these options, see the general library reserves information page.

College Library provides an electronic reserves service which links students to online course materials such as syllabi, book chapters, articles, or audio clips. With complete citation information, we can link to material already available online through the library subscriptions or on the free web. You can also provide us with electronic files or photocopies of documents which we will evaluate for fair use and make available online.
Electronic Reserves will be automatically displayed in your Learn@UW page once we have set them up.
If you do not have a home page for your course but would like one, contact the Division of Information Technology (DoIt).
Materials are processed in the order in which they are received and as quickly as possible. Processing delays may occur at the beginning of the semester.
