Overdue Notices
Email notices: If you have questions concerning an e-mail overdue notice, just reply to the e-mail and your message will be received by the library that sent the notice. Questions concerning overdue notices received by mail should be directed to the phone number listed in the overdue notice.
Lost Items
Report lost College Library items to the first floor Circulation Desk.
Report lost Computer & Media Center items to the Computer & Media Center desk.
If the material is not located, the minimum replacement charge is $40.00. If the library material is returned after the replacement charge has been assessed, the replacement charge will be cancelled or refunded. In certain instances, a new replacement copy of the lost item may be accepted instead of the replacement charge.
Damaged Library Items
All damaged items will be assessed an appropriate repair or replacement charge.
Appeals of Overdue Charges
You may appeal overdue charges in writing at the Memorial Library Circulation Office in room 170 or via e-mail at: https://www.library.wisc.edu/forms/appeal.html.
Payment of Charges
Fines for laptops, cameras, and projectors are paid through the Laptop Checkout System with Visa or MasterCard. Fines must be paid on-line at http://ecs.library.wisc.edu/infolab_fines/
Fines on other library items may be paid at the Circulation Office, Room 170, Memorial Library. (Exception: Library fines received from the State Historical Society Library must be paid at the Historical Society.) The Circulation Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Fines can be paid with Wiscard, Visa, MasterCard, check or cash. To pay by mail, send a check payable to University of Wisconsin-Madison to Room 170 Memorial Library, 728 State Street, Madison, WI 53706.
Nonpayment Penalties
If you do not pay your charges, the following may happen:
- You may not be able to register for classes.
- Your diploma may be withheld.
- Your transcript may be withheld.
